Simi Valley’s Nick Giarraputo was honored on the Star All-County Baseball First Team as the top Second Baseman/Pitcher in the County. Nick had a .446 average with 35 RBIs and 7 Homeruns.

Simi Valley’s Nick Giarraputo was named to the Marmonte All-League First Team. Teammate Brett Hale and Royal’s Mike Long were honored on the All-League Second Team.

Royal beat Calabasas, 2-1. Highlander Grady Ihnat hit a homerun for the win. Royal is 4-10 in Marmonte League play and 12-12 overall.

Simi Valley lost to Moorpark, 4-2. Nick Giarraputo and Matt McFadden both were 2 for 4 in the game. The Pioneers are 6-8 in league play and 15-12 overall.

Royal gets win over Westlake, 4-3. Justin Lord pitched a 4 hit complete game for the win. Justin Czyrklis drove in the winning run.

Simi Valley edged in extra innings by Calabasas 8-7. Brandon Garza had 2 RBIs. Nick Giarraputo went 2 for 3 and scored a run. Brett Hale scored 2 runs.

Continuing in the Redondo Tournament, Simi Valley beat South Torrance 9-8. Matt McFadden was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Eric Bernstein was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Brandon Garza was 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs. Nick Giarraputo drove in 3 runs with a double.

Royal get win over rival Simi Valley, 6-3. Highlander highlights included Kevin Harrington finishing 1 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs. John Lord hit a home run and had 2 RBIs. Pioneer highlights included Jordan Flores with 2 hits and scoring a run. Matt Orloff and Brett Hale were each 2 for 4.

Simi Valley beats Westlake 5-1. Pioneer Jordan Flores hit a 3-run homerun. Pitcher Nick Giarraputo provided 2 more runs with a homerun. Nick pitched a 2-hitter complete game for the victory.

Royal drops one to Thousand Oaks 8-5.

At the Redondo Tournament, Simi Valley beat Taft, 9-1. Jordan Flores was 2 for 2, scored 3 runs and had 2 RBIs. Matt McFadden was 2 for 3 with a RBI. Adam Sandler pitched a 2 hitter, striking out 7.

Simi Valley lost to Newbury Park 15-8. Nick Giarraputo was 1 for 2 with a homerun and 3 RBIs.

Royal lost to Moorpark in extra innings 4-3.

The Royal boys’ beat Agoura 6-4. The Highlanders got their first league win of the season. Kenny Lawson was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Mike Long was 2 for 4 with a run. Dennis Kelly had a hit and 2 RBIs. The Highlanders are 8-8 overall and 1-7 in league play.

Simi Valley trashes Thousand Oaks, 16-3. Brett Hale powered the attack going 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs. Andrew Sandler was 4 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI. Matt Orloff had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and 3 RBIs. The Pioneers are 13-7 overall and 5-3 in Marmonte League play.

The Royal sluggers took the championship game against El Segundo into extra innings only to lose 8-6 in the 10th. Kenny Lawson was 3 for 4, with 2 doubles and an RBI. Kevin Harrington had 2 hits and an RBI. Troy Hunter had 2 doubles. Highlander’s Justyn Czyrklis, Cliff Quick and Kyle Zeuner were named to the All-Tournament team. Royal is 7-8 overall.

Simi Valley takes the Pomona Elks Tournament Championship with 9-0 win over Moreno Valley. Matt Orloff had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Drew Sandler had 2 hits and scored a run. Frankie Reed was named the MVP for the Tournament. Teammate Nick Giarraputo was also named to the All-Tournament Team. The Pioneers are 12-7 overall.

Royal defeated Valley View 17 – 10 at the Coachella Valley Tournament. Kyle Wilkerson hit a home run and a double. Justyn Czyrklis had 2 doubles and 4 RBIs. Michael Vineyard was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Daniel Darkowski was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Kevin Harrington hit a home run. The Highlanders’ will next play for the Tournament Championship.

Simi Valley beat Pomona 24-1 at the Pomona Els Tournament. Frankie Reed went 3 for 3 with a homerun, 2 doubles and 5 RBIs. Eric Bernstein was 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

Royal shut down Desert Mirage, 24-0 at the Coachella Valley Tournament. The Highlanders scored 12 runs in the 4th inning. Justyn Czyrklis was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Kenny Walden and Kenny Lawson each had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Chris Rock tripled.

Simi Valley beat Ganesha, 10-1 in the second round of the Pomona Tournament.  Brett Hale pitched 4 innings, striking out 8 and giving up only 2 hits for his first win.  Brandon Garza pitched 3 innings giving up 2 hits and striking out 3 to earn a save.  Frankie Reed was 2 for 4 with a homerun, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  Matt Hibbard was 2 for 3.

Royal shut out Hesperia, 10-0 at the Coachella Valley Tournament.  Kyle Zeuner struck out 10, gave up only 1 hit, and walked 1.  Kyle Wilkerson was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs.  Kenny Lawson had 2 RBIs. Justyn Czyrklis doubled and scored 2 runs.

Simi Valley downed Diamond Ranch, 7-2. Nick Giarraputo doubled and added a homerun, for 4 RBIs and scored 2 runs.  Eric Bernstein doubled for 2 RBIs.  Nick Russo struck out 4 and got the win.

The Simi Valley team pulled off the upset of the season so far by handing Agoura its first loss of the season, 5-4. Nick Giarraputo hit a grand slam homerun to cap a 5 run inning to secure the victory for the Pioneers. Nick also got his third victory of the season, pitching over 6 innings, striking out 6 and walking 3. . The Pioneers first run came when Matt Orloff took one for the team and was hit with the bases loaded.

Royal loses to Newbury Park, 9-2. The Highlander attack was led by Mike Long with 2 hits and drove in both of Royals runs.

Royal get 14-3 win over St. Bernard. Kenny Walden and Michael Vineyard each had 2-run homeruns. Vineyard went 3 for 4. Kyle Zuener and Daniel Darkowski both had 2 RBIs and a double.

The Simi Valley boys’ beat cross-town rival Royal, 13-7. Pioneer Jeff Fergerson had 3 hits, scored 3 runs and added 3 RBIs. Matt McFadden had 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBIs. Brett Hale had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Jake Reed had 2 hits, 2 RBIs and scored a run. Matt Orloff had 2 hits, 2 runs and an RBI. For the Highlander’s Justin Czyrklis had 3 hits, 1 RBI and scored a run. Kenny Walden had 2 hits.

Simi Valley beats Thousand Oaks, 3-1. Nick Giarraputa smacked a 2-run home run and finished the day with all 3 RBI’s. Giarraputa also was the winning pitcher, with Frankie Reed getting a save. Eric Bernstein was 2 for 3 with a run scored. The Pioneers are 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the Marmonte League.

The Royal boys were overwhelmed by Agoura 11-3. Highlander highlights included Kevin Harrington’s 2 doubles and scoring one of Royal’s runs. Justin Czyrklys went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Ryan Bietz was 2 for 2. The Highlanders are 3-1 overall and 0-1 in League play.

Simi Valley wins a slugfest over Alemany, 14-13 in the Southern California Showdown. Nick Giarraputo and Frankie Rees hit grand slam home runs. Reed had 5 RBI’s on the day. Collin Franklin was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.

The Royal boys’ kept up their winning ways with a 7-1 victory over Culver City in the Southern California Invitational. Troy Hunter and Daniel Darkoski each hit 2-run homeruns. Hunter had 3 RBIs. Justyn Czyrklis had 3 walks, scored 3 runs, and added a stolen base.

The Simi Valley boys got back on the winning course with a 6-5 win over Quartz Hill in the Southern California Showdown. Collin Franklin went 2 for 2 and drove in 2 runs. Eric Bernstein had 2 hits, an RBI and scored 2 runs. Matt McFadden went 3 for 4 and added a stolen base.

The Royal boys advance in the Southern California Invitational with a 17-1 win over Glendale. Dennis Kelly was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s. Kevin Harrington was also 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.

The Simi Valley boys gave up a single run in the first inning and lost to Chatsworth, 1-0, in the Southern California Showdown. Nick Giarraputo pitched a complete game. Jordan Flores and Eric Berstein provided the Pioneer hits.

The Simi Valley guys continued their winning ways with an 8-7, extra inning victory over Hart. Bret Hale’s 2-run single highlighted a 3-run rally in the 8th inning. Hale finished with 3 hits. Nick Giarraputo went 3-5 with 3 runs and an RBI, and was the winning pitcher. Matt McFadden was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Nick Barnese had 2 doubles.

Simi Valley boys’ downed Canyon Country 3-0 in the Southern California Showdown tournament. Starting pitcher Nick Barnese pitched 6 scoreless innings with no walks. Nick Giarraputo had an RBU Single.
