Michael Cybulski of the Royal High School CIF State Championship boys cross country team was named the Star’s Runner of the Year on the All-County boys Cross Country Team. Read about Michael here. Joining Michael on the All-County First Team were teammates Hudson Andrews, Kevin Sullivan and Jun Reichl. Named to the All-County Second Team were Highlanders Jason Pedersen and Danny Benson.
Ventura County and Marmonte League Champion Anna Sperry of Simi Valley was named the Star’s Runner of the Year on the All-County girls Cross Country Team. Read about Anna here. Royal boys’ repeat as best in the State with CIF Division I Championship. Highlander’s Michael Cybulski (3rd), Hudson Andrews (9th), Kevin Sullivan (10th), Jason Pedersen 11th and Jun Reichl (19th) trounced second place El Toro 24 to 138. This was the fourth major Cross County title the Royal team has won this season. Next up is the Nike Team Nationals to the #4 ranked team in the nation. The Royal girls’ team finished 10th at the State meet. Simi Valley’s Anna Sperry, who won the CIF-SS Championship last week, finished 4th in the state.

The Royal Boys’ Cross Country team has easy time running away with the CIF-SS Cross Country championship. The team qualified for the CIF State championships. The Royal Girls’ finished 4th. The Royal Boys and Girls’ easily won their heats to qualify for the CIF-SS Cross Country Championships. Jason Pederson, Danny Brown, Alex Routh, Kevin Sullivan, and Hudson Andrews lead the charge for the boys. Kelcie Wiemann, Rebecca Albarran, Paige Newman, Marie Schaper and Nicole Black ran for the girls.
Simi Valley’s Anna Sperry won her Division II heat. However, the Pioneer team finished 5th in the heat. Also running for the team were Geri Koehler, Alisha Aiello, Alexia Burton and Chelsea Scott.

The Royal Boys’ Cross Country team, #3 in the nation, tuned up for the CIF-SS Division I meet with a victory at the Mount San Antonio College Invitational Team Sweepstakes. The Highlanders were led by Michael Cybulski’s 4th place finish. Teammates Hudson Andrews and Kevin Sullivan were 10th and 11th. The Royal girls Cross Country team had a respectable 4th place finish in the Division I heat at the Mt Sac Invitational. The Highlander’s were led by Kelcie Wiemann and Marie Schaper who finished 11th and 12th.
Simi Valley’s Anna Sperry won the Division II race at the Mt Sac Invitational. The Pioneer team finished 4th.
The Royal boys’ Cross Country Team scored a double win in a dual-meet against Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. The Highlanders scored an 18-39 win over T-Oaks and a 15-45 win over Newbury Park. Royal had 5 of the top six places. Hudson Andrews and Michael Cybulski finished 1-2, while Danny Benson, Jun Reichi and Kevin Sullivan finished 4, 5, and 6. The Highlanders finish the season unbeaten at 7-0.
The Royal girls’ Cross Country Team earned a split in a meet against Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. T-Oaks edged the Highlanders 22-34, while earning a 15-45 win over Newbury Park. Rebecca Albarran, Paige Newman and Kelcie Wiemann finished 4, 5, and 6. Royal completes the Marmonte League season in second with a 6-1 record.

Royal Boys’ scored big in a Marmonte League Tri-meet to get wins over Westlake (19-40) and Calabasas (15-48). Highlanders took six of the first seven places. Mike Cybulsky finished in first and Hudson Andrews followed in third. Teammates Danny Benson, Jun Reichi, Kevin Sullivan and Dustin Patterson finished 4 through 7. Westlake earned a win over Calabasas (17-46).
The Royal Girls earned double wins over Westlake (20-39) and Calabasas (15-50) in a Marmonte Tri-meet. Highlanders finished with 7 of 10 places. Kelcie Wiemann finished first and teammate Rebecca Albarran third. Royal’s Paige Newman 4th, Marie Schaper 5th, Maria Ruiz 7th, Taylor Mogg 9th, and Nicole Black 10th. Westlake scored a win over Calabasas (15-50).

The Royal boys Cross country team beat Simi Valley to the finish line to score a 15-41 win. Highlander’s Sullivan, Benson, Reichi, Patterson, and Routh finished in the first 5 places. Royal is 4-0 overall. Simi Valley is 1-4.
The Royal girls outran the Simi Valley Cross Country team to score a 25-31 win. Highlander Taylor Mogg finished second to Simi Valley’s all-star Anna Sperry. Royal teammate Maria Ruiz was 4th. The Royal girls team is 3-0 overall. The Simi Valley team is 2-3.

Royal, missing 2 top runners, finishes second at the Clovis Invitational Cross Country meet. Highlander Mike Cybulski won the championship division. Teammates Hudson Andrews and Danny Benson finished 6th and 12th.

The Simi Valley Girls’ Cross Country team beat Moorpark 25-30, but lost to Thousand Oaks runners 25-32 in a Marmonte League Tri-Meet. Individually Simi Valley’s Anna Sperry finished first over the course. Teammates Alexis Burton was 4th and Geri Koehler was 9th.
The Simi Valley Boys’ Cross Country lost to both Thousand Oaks (15-43) and Moorpark (20-38) in their Marmonte League Tri-meet. Individually Simi Valley’s Mike Dellemonico finished 6th.

The Royal boys’ cross country team won the Stanford Invitational Division I meet at Palo Alto. The Highlanders were led by Michael Cybulski, who finished 5th overall and Jason Pedersen who was 10th.

Simi Valley’s Anna Sperry finished first at the Bell-Jeff Invitational Division I meet. The Simi Valley team finished 4th. The team was led by Sperry, Geri Koehler, Alexia Burton, Christy Severance and Rosalyn Sutton.
